Maintenance
Weekly pool maintenance, openings and closings
From getting the pool ready for summer to shutting it down for the winter, kept up from the Lakewood office across the tri-state area.
Chapter 01
Openings get the pool ready for summer
Pool Docs describes maintenance as getting your pool ready for summer, shutting it down for the winter and everything in between. The opening is where the season starts, and it's the visit that shows what the winter did.
In New Jersey, an opening generally means taking off the winter cover, cleaning it, clearing the water surface, reconnecting and restarting the pump and filter, and rebalancing the water chemistry so the pool is clear by the time the weather turns warm.
Booked through the Lakewood office, an opening can lead straight into weekly service for pools across the tri-state area.

Weekly maintenance is the steady part: skimming and brushing, vacuuming, emptying baskets, testing the water and adjusting the chemistry, and keeping an eye on the filter and pump. Done every week, it's what keeps a pool clear instead of rescued.
Pool Docs also sells equipment and chemicals, so the pump, filter or sanitizer a pool needs doesn't mean a separate trip to a store that has never seen your pool. Ask at the Lakewood office, open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Regular visits catch small problems while they're small, which is why weekly service pairs naturally with a pool Pool Docs has built.
Chapter 03
Closings put the pool to bed for a New Jersey winter
A closing is the last look at the pool before it goes quiet for months.
A closing generally means lowering the water to the right level, clearing the lines so nothing freezes and cracks, balancing and treating the water, and fitting the cover. A New Jersey freeze is hard on plumbing that still holds water, which is why the line-clearing step matters.
The visit is also when cracks, chips and leaks are easiest to spot on a pool that's been working all summer, and Pool Docs handles those as part of repairs and service. For a cover that fits the shut-down, see safety covers. To book a closing, call 732.300.2481.
